According to Sámi custom, life in Kiruna is lived following the 8 seasons, where each season is a new adventure based upon what nature has to offer. Eleven percent of Sweden's protected nature lies within the borders of Kiruna municipality, including Abisko National Park, with its iconic valley formation Čuonjávággi (The Laponian Gate), Rissajaure (Troll Lake), and Sweden's highest mountain, Kebnekaise.
